National Service

From 2020-2022, I served as co-chair of the Early Career Cohort (ECC) of NCTEAR. The goal of this group is to develop mentorship and support among junior scholars who do literacy research. I proposed and founded the organization, and was awarded funding through NCTEAR to pilot the group. Matthew Deroo (University of Miami) and I are co-chairing the pilot from January 2021-May 2021.

Previously, I served as the Chair of the graduate strand for English Language Arts Teacher Educators (ELATE), formerly Conference on English Education, from July 2017-July 2019. As chair and liaison to the executive committee, I guided the organization through a rebranding, planned for our biennial meeting, reviewed Research Initiative grants, and served on the Janet Emig Award committee. You can learn more about ELATE and the ELATE Graduate strand here.
